F.A.Q.'s
Zoom is a software platform that facilitates a two way communication between everyone who is logged into the platform with minimal latency. This function allows everyone to communicate with eachother as needed. In order to accomplish this with limited bandwidth, Zoom compresses the video and audio, and will drop frames as needed. A livestream (to youtube or another platform) is a one way communication, where the guests can only watch (some platforms allow guests to leave text comments). However, this format is uncompressed and provides full HD video and audio quality. A livestream also does not require guests to download the zoom software to their device in order to view an event.
This slider allows you to see the difference in picture quality between a full HD livestream and a zoom meeting. Note the color rendition on the faces, as well as the detail in the tallitot, Torah, hair, and textured metal around the ark.
We’ve come up with a list of tips and tricks based on our experience facilitating hundreds of virtual events.
Zoom links are sent out the Monday before a weekend event. We’ve found that a link that’s been created too early can sometimes be reset, so we recommend that in your initial invitation, you let your guests know that the link will be sent the week before the event. If you absolutely need the link further in advance, we’ll do our best to accommodate!
We take a deposit of 50% upfront to hold the date. This deposit is refundable until 1 week prior to the event, at which point it becomes fully non-refundable (regardless of the reason for cancellation). The balance is due on or before the event.
Payment can be accepted by check, cash, or electronic funds transfer (venmo or paypal). If the funds transfer occurs via credit card, a 3% processing fee will be added.
If this happens (either due to availability, weather, government restriction, or personal choice), we will be happy to accommodate a ceremony at your home or another venue of your choosing!
We’ll schedule a time to visit the new venue, take measurements, run tests on internet connectivity and power, and check lighting and camera angles.
As a general rule of thumb, expect the price to increase about 50-60% to account for extra equipment, transportation, and additional time for the survey. The Temple also generously provides a credit to families whose ceremonies take place on premises.
After about a week, we’ll provide a private link that you can access to watch the video. You can send this link to friends and family who may have missed the service. You can also use this link to download the file. This link will stay active for 6 months.
